The story

Memory rarely keeps colour; it keeps shape and feeling. Monochrome Memory is drawn from a faded photograph of a grandmother the artist never met, reconstructed from family descriptions of her laughter and posture. The piece explores how we carry people we never knew — through the stories that draw them in charcoal.
